Dancing to the Mindset Melody

 
In this inquiry, I will take you through my journey of:  
  • Understanding the culture we created for our children, one in which academic risk-taking was lacking among our juniors who were enrolled in geometry
  • Gathering data from assessments and academic and verbal interventions, through which we recognized students' beliefs systems were influenced by the adults around them (parents and educators)
  • Staging an intervention, which included interviewing our junior students and reflecting on their views
  • And, finally, our wake up call: what we had to do to shift the objective of college readiness to make it more relevant to our students
