Designed for current co-teaching pairs who would like to deepen their work or new co-teaching pairs that would like to get a jump-start on planning for next year, this three-day institute focuses on models of co-teaching, collaborative planning for accessible curriculum and instruction, and strategies for utilizing all adults in the classroom. Each day is from 9AM to 2:30PM at Teachers College; applicants must be able to attend all three days.
The cost of this institute is $450 per person. If accepted, you will be sent a link to provide payment.
This three-day institute aimed at paraprofessionals (though teachers are certainly welcome to attend) will ensure a smooth transition into the new school year for staff and students alike. Focusing on adult communication and collaboration, with a special lens on families and the school community, attendees will learn to understand student behavior as communication and, sometimes, as a brain-based difference (trauma, executive functioning challenges, etc.). This institute will also focus on how best to support academics in the classroom for complex learners.
Participants will leave with a toolbox that includes:
- Break systems
- Reflection tools
- Practical interventions
- Data collection techniques and materials
- Strategies for self-care and stress management
- Action steps for sharing your learning back at school
