TCICP is excited to announce the Inclusive Classrooms Coaching Institute: Level 2! Please join us to look closer at coaching models and inclusive practices. Delving deeper into the topics we discussed each day (Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Co-teaching, Positive Behavior Supports, and Inclusive/Responsive Literacy Instruction), we will build on the work we began during Level 1, including goal setting, coaching conversations and debriefing, and exploring methods and cycles of professional development. At the end of the institute, participants will leave with resources and cycles of professional development tailored for their school.
Please note that Level 1 is a prerequisite for this professional development.
Aimed at educators currently in a coaching role or those who wish to move into such a role, participants learn effective coaching methods to build inclusive classrooms and schools. Participants work with TCICP staff developers to learn a wide variety of practices used with adult learners that are capacity-oriented and inquiry-based. Through the lens of critical inclusivity, participants deepen their understanding of ways to develop coaching relationships, assess classroom environments to inform goal-setting with teachers, create a cycle of coaching, and engage in varied coaching conversations. TCICP’s coaching model is based on localized problem-solving and honors the agency and intellectual skills of teachers in its approach to coaching. Participants leave the institute ready to lead their colleagues toward the goal of ensuring that all students in their school community receive an equitable and inclusive education.
