This summer from June 29th to July 2nd TCICP is hosting a four-day institute for educators to plan curriculum and instruction that offer challenges and support for a wide range of learners. Rather than seeing human differences as a problem with which to cope, we will be working with multiple instructional approaches that view human difference as a resource. We will be using these frameworks to support teachers and school teams to design and redesign curriculum and instructional plans so that challenge and support can be offered for as many students as possible:
- Using Universal Design for Learning
- Creating Multimodal Instructional Materials
- Centering Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy
- Designing Complex Instruction (group worthy and multiple abilities tasks)
Emphasis will be placed on equalizing status inequalities in the classroom and making learning meaningful and relevant to students’ lives, communities, and futures.
Please note that this institute will be hosted at Battery Park City School.
